For the sun and rain shines on us all

Visit Mr.Knowitall to post your own Friday Flash Fifty-Five Fiction!

I saw Jesus in the street today. He wasn't your heavy metal Jesus, all girlie hair with a beard and tight trousers to show he's a man. He was a hip-hop hoodie with love scratched on arms walking like his hips were ships in a storm. And I knew a door had opened for me.

  1. hell yeah, i could get into a hip hop jesus...
i think we would be really surprised if we really did see him...
and not who we have made him out to be

    1. You'll find Jesus Through the Centuries: His Place in the History of Culture by Jaroslav Pelikan an interesting take on that thought!

  2. Seek and ye shall find, knock and the door will be opened!!!
I just love your Biblical/Urban Juxtaposition
    Loved your very cool 55
Thanks for playing and sharing, and have a Kick Ass Week-End

  3. Excellent. I'm currently listening to some 90's house music. I know it's not exactly hip-hop, but the two are kind of cousins.

  4. … I guess I'm a traditionalist - like my "girlie long-haired Jesus"… but we are all called "to be" Jesus - and we all express ourselves with different traditions, etc. Very interesting thought process this 55.

    1. Thanks. I refer you to books such as these to figure out what is 'traditional'

The Meaning of Jesus N.T. Wright
The Changing Faces of Jesus Geza Vermes
The Jesus Debate: Modern Historians Investigate the Life of Christ Mark Allan Powell
Jesus and the Goddess: The Secret Teachings of the Original Christians Timothy Freke

Welcome and thanks for dropping in. I'll pop by yours by and by.
